WIP - Optimizzy Calendar

These are from the Optimizzy calendar. Because I'm pleased with them, I won't be re-drawing them. Even though this is a simple series (of a creature that is always happy no matter what befalls it) maybe I can make up for the simple lineart with lighting effects when I color it. I really hate coloring, but I should challenge myself with this so I can have a wide range of skills. (Luckily, fireworks give a good stepping stone for such a goal!)

  1. Hmmmm, did you put the wrong February pic in a later post? I saw the morbid cuteness earlier. :3

If it's any encouragement, I'm eager to see the fireworks one colored. <3 Please?

And do you really hate coloring? o.O Wait, stupid question. I already knew you do. But...really? Don't you feel satisfied afterward when it's done? We need to do a coloring marathon together to get stuff done some day. Might help kick our butts in gear.

    1. Ack! Yes. ;_; I don't know how that one slipped by, I usually triple check my posts. I just updated that post so it's correct now. XD

I'm going to try! I guess this gives Optimizzy some points for next month so I can work on it quicker. ^^ I should post more sketches and WIPs of projects lower on the list to gauge actual interest and see how it shakes up the list...

I really do, partly because it takes so long and I want to move on to other drawings. I usually DO like the outcome and I often think that uncolored drawings are "unfinished"... but I just hate the long boring process. I wish I could just point and click everything and then shade. That would make me love it more. XD

Coloring marathon sounds great! Though painful... *shudders*

    2. Yes, post more. MORE. Because I'm greedy as hell. Plus, I don't see as much from you. :P (I still have to see the G+M drawings though)
Optimizzy reminds me of Happy Tree Friends. Just...GAH! D: Cute, but dear lawdy.

Can't complain about you not coloring when I don't finish stuff either. How many half-colored pics do I have lying around? (Like that Angel Sanctuary pic; I want it done, but...eh.)
It's not as boring in the beginning, but it quickly becomes dull. What kind of artists are we to hate the process so much? >.>
(And point-n-clicking would be cheating. :P How would you learn anything?!)

One wonders though: How do you have a coloring marathon over the net? *ponder*

    3. Well, I'm just going to have to rectify that, huh? 8D I'll really try to get better, even if I post "unfinished" stuff, like uncolored inks.

I love Happy Tree Friends! So maybe there's a bit of inspiration from it in there. Optimizzy started out as just a random doodle I did in class one day in the tenth grade. XD

I only hate the coloring process. I love the penciling process and inking is a mixed bag, but usually enjoyable (because of cleaning up the messiness of sketches.) XD (Point and Click is a simple time saver so I can focus on the part of the process I really love! Maybe I wouldn't learn much about coloring realistically, but I can still improve on drawing! 8D)

Have scanners and art programs and blogger/dA ready and just see how much we can get done in a day. Like schedule a start and stop time. ^^
